Color Coded Dogs
The saying goes that birds of a feather flock together--but is this also true for dogs? These photos, taken over the past week at the park, might say that it is...
...or, oops, maybe it isn't! This photo makes me think of the Sesame Street song, "One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong. Can you tell which thing is not like the other, by the time I finish this song?" Yes, this jingle will now be stuck in your head all day--welcome to the club.
A grouping of black dogs, plus an Aussie, who is a white dog with black and grey, but is called blue (blue merle). Is there any rhyme or reason to that?
These black dogs have smidgens of white (isn't smidgen such a great word?). But the two that are facing away from the camera are Blue Picardy Spaniels--again with the blue! And some people say dogs are color blind!?!
These dogs look very similar, but the one at the top is a Brittany Spaniel. The other two are Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
This is a Catahoula Leopard dog, who defies color categorization.
Then there's sweet Josie, a Golden Retriever puppy who's not really very golden. She's almost white...
...or WAS almost white, before she decided to give herself a makeover.
The pleasure is all hers.
Too cute!!
And... Gee thanks. I sang that song all weekend after taking Scooter to a CCI graduation. As he was the only non-yellow or blue coated pup around, the song started. And got stuck. And just when I dislodge it from my head, here it is again! Hahaha
It is a fun song to have jingling in our heads! Thanks :).
Fantastic post! Great photos! The last 2 pix remind us of Avalon...very light golden furs..until she finds just the right puddle to dive in to :)
Big hugs,
Sierra Rose
I love these pictures! I don't think we would have been too pleased if Bella decided to roll around in mud, but I guess at that point you just have to laugh.
At Dexter's daycare, the Golden Retrievers always hang out together and the labs seem to sort themselves out by color as well. Very interesting.

DOH! Song is now stuck in my craw as well! Love this post - you are so imaginative - Josie reminds me so much of Avalon! Give Cabana ear scritches from us all -

Baily is partial to yellow labs since as a pup she went to a dog sitter with them!
