A few months ago, someone posted this photo on Facebook. It was SUCH a clever idea that I felt uncontrollably compelled to make this costume for Cabana. Despite the protestations and recriminations of my family members, I bought a huge stuffed yellow Lab on eBay (pre-owned, so I wouldn't feel so bad about chopping it up), and when it arrived, I rubbed my hands together in glee.
After hours of befuddled effort, here it is! It wasn't easy, and it's still not quite right--but it's hard to get it right since putting it on Cabana can be an ordeal. I need to make a few final tweaks before she wears it for Petco's costume contest tomorrow.
Yes, I do feel a bit mean about making Cabana wear the costume. You can see by the look on her face that she's not thrilled. But I do give her a lot of treats to make it worth her while, and it's not painful in any way. What must be going through her mind? I'm sure she thinks I've lost mine.
But if she wins the contest, she will get a Petco gift card and all the goodies that gift card can buy. She'll only have to wear the costume for an hour, and then I promise, she'll never have to endure this humiliation again!!
