Unlikely Friends

Isn't this the sweetest photo? This female dog is a surrogate mom to a baby elk that was rescued from a flood in South Korea. The dog protects and even nurses the elk!

This is one of many photos from an MSNBC slideshow, found here. All the photos are just amazing, with unusual pairings like a duck who gets walked with dogs, an elephant and a sheep, a pig and a tiger. I wish they gave more detail on the stories behind them.

That is a wonderful photo. I looked at it really closely and you can almost feel the love emanating from the two of them. They are so focused on each other.
