Persia-nality

Persia is a sweet dog, and our time with her has been very smooth. I don't see much "slug" in her, though! She has a different kind of energy than Cabana, but she still seems plenty rambunctious and playful.

Persia's raisers told us to limit her water intake because she will drink and drink and drink, which can lead to accidents. And sure enough, Persia will drink every last drop I put in her bowl. She checks her water bowl often during the day, wanting more--and it's hard not to give it to her because I hate to think that she's thirsty. So I give her just a couple inches of water to drink at a time, rather than filling the bowl like I would with Cabana--and then I remind myself to take her out to relieve within the next half hour or so. And we've had no accidents thus far.

But talk about a fast eater--holy guacamole! I wouldn't have called Cabana a slow eater--Cabana eats her 1.5 cups of food in about a minute or so. But Persia eats her 2 cups of food in about 3 seconds. She doesn't seem to chew at all--she just inhales it.

Persia is quick--she can dash out the door in a millisecond. And she goes after flying insects and catches them in her mouth! Who needs a fly swatter with Persia around!

Another fun difference I've noticed is that Cabana will only lay on soft surfaces, while Persia doesn't seem to care what kind of surface she's on. When I'm showering, Cabana comes and lays on the bathmat in front of the shower. When I'm in the kitchen, Cabana comes and lays on the rug in front of the kitchen sink. But Persia will flop down on the tile or the wood.

Gosh, Pilaf is the SAME WAY wither her water. =D She obsesses over it, and as long as it is there, she will drink it. A new time puppy raiser took her once, and just kept refilling her bowl over and over again. Needless to say, she drank way to much water, and had to gow about 5 times that night. They sound so similar, it makes me laugh. Glad your having fun, and I'm loving the sibling pics. =]

Make sure you tell your vet at the next visit. When my CC'd lab started drinking like that, they found out she had diabetes. Hope she is just a really thirsty girl!

You know, both Iverson and Eclipse came at 8-9 weeks being water obsessed! Some dogs just are completely obsessed with drinking water which can signal a medical issue but others are just obsessed with water their entire lives! She sounds like a sweety!

Yeah some of them are just hard wired that way wth water. Nisha will push Waffle out of the way from the bowl. We limit both their intakes as they both seem to think 'tanking' is fun. It is almost like a compettion between the two to see who can inhale the most.

Conover and Andros were water obsessed!!! It is hard for them to stop sometimes....Conover was a lay on soft stuff kind of guy while Andros was a lay on anything pup....It's so fun to see differences and then realize why you love your pup so much!

After 7 years, Chelsie has finally come to realize that at some point, she will be fed twice a day. She still eats fast enough to belch like a trucker (it is embarassing when someone is there and she rips out a high decible belch), but in general, seems to realize that it is ok to chew her food! They crack me up. Glad you are having fun with Persia!
